Seems to be a problem with the latest flash player, maybe downgrading flash to 11.7 can help?
Will give it a shot, but if I remember correctly it was happening back before the upgrade to. My about:crash page is pretty full from the past few months alone. ;-/
Thanks for your input! :)
Was talking about the crash signature, you may be getting multiple problems.

Ever since version 4, Firefox has crashed repeatedly on my Mac. I trashed FF and reinstalled it every time there was a new version : no joy.
I did this again now I'm running 10.9, the new Apple operating system : I reinstalled Firefox from scratch to see what would happen, but crashes are worse than before. It even crashes on Mozilla pages !
I'm NOT interested in workarounds, tweaks, etc. Other browsers work straight away with no problems. Firefox should too, and doesn't. If settings have to be modified, or other adjustments are necessary, Mozilla should say so ! I see Mozilla's Firefox page has the slogan "different by design": it certainly is. Perhaps they'd like to add : "the browser that works, you hope, after making adjustments".
If I can help you, just update your Mac to the latest OS X 10.9 Mavericks, if possible. I do it and never had any crash.
If it doesn't work, update your installed plugins !
If you read my post carefully, you'd have seen that I am indeed running Mavericks. And after installing the new system I downloaded and installed Firefox once again. It doesn't work.
My plug-ins are fine - and work perfectly in all the other browsers I use. Safari, Chrome, Chromium, Opera, and SeaMonkey.
Flavien: you seem to be a fellow-countryman, so : merci d'avoir pris la peine de me répondre. J'espère trouver une solution un jour!

As an experiment, I opened a few websites with Firefox, force-quitting it when it froze and relaunching it :
- You Tube : froze immediately
- The Guardian : froze immediately
- Mozilla support ( found by clicking Firefox's preinstalled Getting Started in the Address bar : worked for two pages. Then froze in the Add-ons page
- Apple : no freezes at all. Worked perfectly
- Der Spiegel : froze immediately
Conclusion; there's something seriously wrong with Firefox. ALL these sites open and work well with other browsers.
For anyone preferring an English version of my last post : I now have FF25, and it still causes freezes as soon as I leave Google (my start page). I could give up altogether and just use Safari, Chrome, etc. But I would like to know why FF behaves in this way. And I repeat : I don't want to enable or disable features or try any other workarounds : it shouldn't be necessary, FF should work straight away as other browsers do. FF 3.5 worked fine. But since then every other version has caused this problem. Before trying new versions, I've trashed old ones (AND associated files) and done a 'clean install'. No joy. NB : I'm using a Mac, now running 10.9 ( Mavericks)
Hi xkreiss
Does Firefox crash or is it only lagging (slow response)?
It this a problem with the connection, i.e. do built-in pages work, but pages that require access to internet lag.
You can try to disable IPv6 (also check for other connection related issues).
Firefox hangs (I get the "beachball") and when it does that it's impossible to do anything with it : it's frozen, and no commands are possible. I left FF for several minutes once to see if it would "de-freeze" on its own : it doesn't. I have to force-quit. I've now tried to disable IPv6 as suggested : no difference. And the question remains : why does this happen all the time, and only with FF ? Other browsers work fine (Safari, Chrome, etc) without needing any "tweaks" or adjustments. Also, as I stated before, up to version 3.5 everything was working well. The problem has occurred with every new version. I must have tried most of them - now on to 25. I could just give up, but as I've said before, I'd like to know what's wrong. And why FF is the only browser that does this
Did you recently try a new profile (not a reset as this can possibly carry over the problem)?
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.
I don't have time to do so just now, but I'll try. I don't see why FF is the only browser with which this is necessary. I repeat: it isn't necessary with other browsers.
This should not be necessary ( other browsers work fine) but as you suggest, ,I’ve now had a look at all the instructions on how to create a profile.
One page suggests going to the Terminal and typing : Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin Result : “no such file or directory”.
Another page tells me to look in two areas :
Library/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/<profile folder> : there is no profile folder here. The Mozilla folder has one folder only in it called “Extensions”. It’s empty.

In other words: I've tried the "profiles" solution, and it doesn't work. And neither does Firefox. I'd still like to know why.
Restarting in safe mode doesn't help either. I've now tried every suggested "fix", none of them work. Version 3.5 worked well. None of the newer versions has worked. 1) what can be wrong ? 2) why do other browsers work when Firefox doesn't ?
