When I send emails from my POP3 account they appear in the 'Sent' folder but do not reach the addressee. As an experiment I created an email address with my ISP - my normal email address is from an ISP absorbed by TalkTalk :-( - and created an SMTP account in TB for it. I can successfully send email from that account. I have re-installed TB 45 but that has made no improvement. I don't want to delete my existing TB install because of the pain of recovering the email - unless someone can explain a pain-free way of doing so.

POP is for incoming, SMTP for outgoing, so your description doesn't make much sense. It may be helpful if you posted here your account settings.
