Ever since updating to Firefox 53.0 my Windows 7 laptop and Windows 7 desktop freeze and are not usable until after a hard reset. I attempt to close Firefox with Windows Task Manager but both computers are too frozen to access any programs. I've used Firefox for years and have not had many issues until now.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

While still in safe Mode,

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP- in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most recent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Press the Reply button. Now go to the reply box and paste them in.

Hello, Thank you for the fast reply. The issue did happen again with Firefox in Safe Mode. It happened later in the day after the computer had been on for a while, but it froze as it has before. I checked my about:crash and the last report listed was from 12/21/16. Lately when the computers freeze the only fix is a hard reset - reset button on my desktop or a battery pull on my laptop. The computers will start and run OK for a while after the freeze but there is no "oops I crashed" notice from Firefox.

Start your Computer in safe mode. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?
