The site seems to be intentionally blocking Firefox. I'm sure they have their reasons... maybe it's too easy to download their content in Firefox?

Firefox does support Adobe Flash - in Firefox it's called 'Shockwave Flash' and you'll find it in the 3-bar menu (or Tools) => Add-ons => Extensions (providing you do have Adobe Flash installed on your system .... ). Please make sure to set it to 'Always Activate'.

I have this problem, too. I asked a question and then came across this thread. I've installed Adobe Flash from their website and the plug in is active. What gives? I hate all other browsers!

Not Golf Channel, but NBCSN Gold. So, same owner company. I wrote to them, as well. They say it's a problem with Firefox not allowing flash content and suggested I contact Firefox to get the correct settings to allow the content to play. <sigh>

BTW, Safe Mode elicits the same response:

"Recent versions of Firefox do not support Adobe Flash with authenticated video streams. Please use an alternative browser."

I get that every tech company is fighting with every other tech company ala Coke versus Pepsi, but this kind of thing is so highly annoying. I left Chrome for a similar reason, and Edge is just plain slow. Though, at the minute I'm able to stream off it, at least!

I've done that, as well. Still doesn't solve the immediate problem. Using Edge, which sucks.

Mentioned it to a friend and he said he read that NBC Sports (and many other content providers) doesn't want to support Firefox because it's not safe (old news that's no longer true) and because they've made agreements with Microsoft and Google. May not be true, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Or don't share if you want to try this first:

(0) Select and copy the following text

general.useragent.override.stream.golfchannel.com;Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/68.0.3440.106 Safari/537.36

(1) In a new tab, type about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste usera and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Right-click a blank area of the page, click New, then click String. This should open a small dialog where you can paste the above string. Then remove everything after the semicolon and the semicolon itself so it says

general.useragent.override.stream.golfchannel.com

and click OK

(4) Paste the above string and remove everything before the semicolon and then the semicolon itself so it says

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/68.0.3440.106 Safari/537.36

and click OK

(5) Repeat steps 3 and 4, except remove the word stream, too, so the preference name is

general.useragent.override.golfchannel.com

Then try the site again. I tested in a private window and closed it between tests to make sure no cached information or cookies previously set by the site affected my test.

The result was... an Infiniti commercial followed by men walking around on a huge lawn with various flags set in holes, etc. I turned on closed captioning for the attached screenshot.

I just sent a long message to NBC Sports Group - their assumption about Firefox not supporting Adobe Flash may be based on the fact that NPAPI based plugins are no longer supported. Told them that Adobe Flash is an exception, and gave them articles to
read .....

This is what about:config looks like after adding override preferences for this and a different NBC Sports streaming site (screenshot attached).

That solved the problem. Thanks.
