Until recently, Firefox screen always displayed images of my most popular recently-used web sites. Now I have somehow altered my preferences so the screen is blank, with no images. How do I restore the display feature?

Chosen solution

You need to use a colon and not a dot between the two words: about:config.
about: is a protocol as can be seen by this colon that is used to access built-in pages.

This is the same for the about:newtab page that shows the thumbnails.

You can check the browser.newtab.url and browser.newtabpage.enabled prefs on the about:config page and make sure.that they have the default value.

You can open the about:config page via the location bar.

Hi,

Thanks for the very prompt response, but unfortunately you are dealing with a senior citizen who has trouble working with technical issues. First of all, I can't seem to open config.com--I can't put it in the address bar because it isn't an address. I am using Windows 8.

I very much appreciate the help, but you'll have to take a patience pill :-)

Sorry, I mean about.config. See the problem?
