Foxfire simply stops working. I get a dialog box "Foxfire has stopped working. Windows will let you know when there is a solution." There seems to be nothing consistent about what makes it happen. It most recently happened when I attempted to clear History within Foxfire. I have updated everything I can update except drivers, cleared cache, defrag, etc. My operating system is Windows 7, 32bit, SP1. Can anyone help?

Considering that you are getting a message like that, Firefox itself might not be crashing, but rather Windows is crashing. At any rate please see if you have any Firefox Crash reports, that might tell us what's going immediately before the crash.

Please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

That are OOM (out-of-memory) crash reports where not enough free memory is available.

You can check for issues caused by plugins.

  • set plugins to "Ask to Activate" on the about:addons page ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Plugins)
  • plugins are not affected by Firefox Safe Mode

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and hardware acceleration in Firefox and try this:
