First I go to: Tools ... Options ... Saved Passwords ... Show Passwords

Then I get a Windows Security window that says "Verify your identity to reveal the saved passwords"

But it will not accept my Windows password or my Mozilla password.

How do I get in to see my saved passwords?

Thank you!

Ohmygosh! Ohgmygosh! Shumidog, it worked!

In sfhowes' recent message, s/he said, "...set up a PIN for logging onto the computer, then use that as well to view the passwords." So I decided to try entering the password that I use to log onto my computer when Thunderbird asked for a password before it would show me my "saved passwords," and it worked.

In other words, when Thunderbird asks for a password before it will show you your "saved passwords," enter the password you use to sign into your computer. Shumidog, see if that works for you.

THANK YOU, SFHOWES!

Did you set a master password (or now primary password)? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Master_password

No, I didn't, not that I know of. And THANK YOU for helping me! -Mary

How do you log into your computer? With an MS email address and password, a local account user name and password, or a PIN? Click 'More choices' in the prompt window to apply the relevant credentials.

Hi, I log into my computer with a password. My prompt window doesn't offer me "more choices." Other ideas? Thank you!

I meant 'More choices' in the TB window (see picture).

Oh! Yes, I've tried that. It doesn't let me in. -Mary

I have the same problem! I go to options/privacy & security/saved passwords and get a pop-up window asking for a password for my mozilla account. I have never had a mozilla password. There is no option to request a mozilla password or change the mozilla password. I have a FireFox password that doesn't work. What gives?

Thank you! I agree! I agree! Thank you for the support.

This is causing me serious problems with my Internet provider who keeps shutting down my email because it says my laptop is trying to log in with the wrong password. But I can't see what that password is, and I can't change it, because I can't get in. Help! -Mary

The credentials requested to view the Saved Passwords has nothing to do with Mozilla or email accounts, unless you use an email address to log onto the computer.

I suggest you ask someone who has administrator privileges to set up a PIN for logging onto the computer, then use that as well to view the passwords. W10 Settings/Accounts/Sign-in options.

Thank you. I am the administrator (although I admit there's a lot I don't know). This is just my personal laptop. Why can't I just see my "saved passwords"? It doesn't seem that complicated. I don't understand. -Mary

Then I don't understand the statement in the OP:

But it will not accept my Windows password

Hi, christ1,

That statement comes from my ignorance. I didn't know that the password I enter to get into my computer is also considered my Windows password. (I have a different Windows password that seems to do other things for me.)

It must be hard to try to help people who don't understand their problem and don't even know how to talk about it.

Don't give up on us, christ1!

Thanks,
