Why offer English and British as languages? It should be English and English(American)!
English needs no qualification and the clue is in the name - English. To suggest that it is not related specifically to the place of origin and is more generic would be as arrogant as to suggest the words "the states" by default relates solely or primarily to the USA - other countries have states apart from the USA.
Moreover there is no such language as "British".
It's very complimentary that the USA and others has adopted the English language (even if they cannot quite use if correctly) but to suggest that it is not related to England just demonstrates ignorance of both History and Geography (the United Kingdom is not the same as Britain or Great Britain).
Mozilla should do more research!

this specifies the language of the website you're seeing, it should probably be changed to "English (US)" nevertheless. there was a similar bug that got fixed a few years ago (bug 294299), but the same thing may have sneaked back in - feel free to file a bug about that...

hello, there is no standalone "british" or "english" version of firefox. the browser is offered in three variants of english at https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ : English (British) English (South African) English (US)

Sorry - I wasn't clear enough.
I am referring to the options available on the download Firefox screen (image attached).
In that drop down there are only 2 Enlish-type options: "English" and "English (British)".
It is those options I am referring to - the options one first sees when installing FireFox

I will file once I have created (yet another) login :-)
All we need now is to make the support site either report posting times in the poster's local, the reader's locale or UTC. It wasn't 06:00 when I posted and it's not 06:14 now - not here anyway.
Is this a new definition of the oft-used word "global"? We're not all in PDT :-(

Another arrogant Brit! If it wasn't for "the states" saving your bacon in two "world" wars, you guys might not be speaking English today. Sprechen sie Deutsch?
Just say "thank you" and leave it at that.

The-edmeister - a nice german sounding name - is a moderator? Really?
Let's discuss arrogance:
- To descend to (attempted) persoanl insults in response to a valid observation
- To blindly disregard the fact that this has already been accepted as a bug and addressed albeit in another screen
- To wildly make assumptions regarding my nationality and/or location.
- To be (oh so) warm and welcoming to someone making their first post. I'm sure I may have eventually had more concerns about my profile than the question I was asking ... eventually!
and, responding in kind:
- to claim to host the "World Series",
- to only know the locations of the countries you have invaded,
- to think that global warming didn't apply to the USA and wouldn't affect it (that ones coming home to roost - at least in Texas),
- to support extraordinary rendition,
- to torture prisoners,
- to believe you have to have a gun to be a man ...
etc etc
now maybe that would be arrogant!
Und ja - ich spreche ein wenig Deutsch
et je parle un peu de francais aussi
et vous?
I'll happily say "thank you" to you ed-meister: I'll "thank you" to keep your obnoxious opinions to yourself
Now yall have a nice day.
