I have recently had a problem with an error message "Application has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware application firefox.exe has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware" After searching help topics on the support site and not finding a means to resolve my issue, I searched for a phone number for firefox technical support on google and found a what looked like a legitimate website and a window popped up asking my problem, phone number and email said someone would call me to help me resolve the problem. I then received a phone call with what I thought was Firefox technical support. After gaining control of my computer, the person told me I had been hacked and that's why I was having the problems with the drivers. He then said he could fix the problem for $249.00, which I agreed to and then transferred me to another person who tried to sell me a program to prevent my computer from being hacked. The prices were so outrageous, I then realized it was a scam and I then realized they weren't firefox technical support. I then asked them to get off my computer and I shut down my internet service so that no further work could be done. I am now concerned that while on my computer they accessed banking information, passwords, etc. At the same time, they never resolved my problem and I am still received the same error message! I told them as they had to resolved the problem, I would be contacting my credit card company to stop the payment and the attorney general's office to file a complaint. I then removed whatever new had been placed on my computer during the phone call, there is still a phone number 1-800-746-3029 for their technical support. The name of the company is Super Secure Web. Seriously, I am usually too smart to get involved in something this shady, but I sincerely believed they worked with firefox, I questioned them about this several times and checked out their website so it looks like a legit company. Please advise what I need to do to resolve the original problem - which is the error message and also how to make sure I wasn't hacked by this "technical support" posing as firefox ts?

This is the support article on tech support scammers: Avoid and report Mozilla tech support scams. There's also this fraud reporting page: https://www.mozilla.org/about/legal/fraud-report/

The message you described sounds like a driver compatibility problem. Often this is due to older drivers. Here is the general article on updating graphics drivers: Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL.

However, since you run Windows 10, it could be a case where Firefox isn't yet compatible with a new Windows update. I'm not sure how best to diagnose that.

This is a end user help forum there is no official phone number or email to contact. You were scammed no one will call to ask for access for you computer remotely. This is what I call the "Microsoft Techs calls you" if you haven't been keeping up with the news this is a common scam used. And there is nothing more anyone on here can do since no one on here or Mozilla. You will have to take the computer a computer shop to fix your problem.

Thanks for telling me something I realize that after the fact - my problem with the error message is still not resolved. I have other means to deal with this scam company which I have already initiated. Firefox needs to know that there are websites/companies out there misrepresenting themselves as firefox technical support. Will now stop using firefox and go back to chrome because I don't have the same problems there.

Thank you, your response is very helpful! I did check my drivers before trying to contact firefox technical support and everything is up to date. This error did occur after a recent Windows update so hopefully the problem will resolve itself shortly. Again, thank you for your response!
