Can't customize Navigation Toolbar correctly; icons get lost
My Navigation Toolbar is missing the Reload and Stop icons. But when I go into View/Toolbars/Customize, those icons appear between the Location and Search fields -- as they should. I then back out of Customize and the icons disappear again. In other words, the state of the toolbar as shown in Customize is not the same as the state of the toolbar normally.
How can I display those icons in the toolbar?
I'm running Firefox 9.0.1 under Kubuntu Linux.

In Firefox 4 and newer versions, the Go, Stop and Reload buttons are combined in one button at the right end of the URL or Address bar. The button changes depending on the activity:
- green Go arrow when typing in the address bar
- red Stop ("X") button while page is loading
- gray Reload (circular arrow) when page is finished loading.
- NOTE: Button colors may not be present in Firefox 9 but the following Add-on will restore the colors. The colors seem to work in Firefox 10beta versions; Firefox 10 will be placed in general Release state at the end of January 2012
- Classic Reload-Stop-Go Button: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classic-rsgb/
Separate buttons are possible:
- Open Customize Toolbar window; see --> https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-customize-toolbars#w_how-do-i-customize-or-rearrange-toolbar-items
- While the Customize window is open, Stop and Reload buttons will show separated between the address bar and the search bar
- While the Customize window is open, drag the buttons anywhere on the Navigation toolbar
- order Reload-Stop will combine into one button
- if left between the URL/Location bar and the Search bar in the Reload-Stop order or without a separator, the two buttons will re-combine with the Go button on the right end of the URL/Location bar
- if moved elsewhere on the Navigation bar and left in the Reload-Stop order or without a separator, the two buttons will combine into one Reload-Stop button
- order Stop-Reload will remain separate buttons
- or drag a "Separator" from the Customize window between Reload-Stop and they will remain separate
- order Reload-Stop will combine into one button
- click Done at bottom right of Customize window to finish
