The download icon and progress bar are not showing in FF21. I went to about:config and changed browser.download.useToolkitUI to true. No change. I started in safe mode, and it reappeared. So I went back to regular mode, still not showing, and disabled all addons. Still not showing after restart, so I renabled addons. What else can I do?

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Upgrading to FF22 is not an option until the Norton Vulnerablity Protection issue is fixed...

Norton works perfectly fine with Firefox (even though the norton toolbar is pretty much useless). http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/Firefox-22-Support-for-Norton-Toolbar/m-p/979955 Update norton, then update firefox

Resetting, like you said, loses too much information. I guess I'll wait until the Norton Vulnerability Protection issue is fixed then see if upgrading to FF22 works.

Update your norton, then Firefox (as I already said). Reset isn't going to cause you to lose anything except any extensions, but they are probably causing the issue anyway.

Yes, most of Norton works, but I don't want to lose the vulnerability protection. I guess I'll just wait - it's really only a minor inconvenience having that download arrow and bar not working. Thanks.

Norton Vulnerability protection works irrespective of what version of Firefox you are using. Running an old version of Firefox leaves you at risk for critical security holes and you need to update to stay secure.

It also causes you to lose all the cookie exclusions you've built up, and that is a pain in the rear. I'll just wait. Thanks.

Norton Vulnerability Protection is incompatible with FF22.

"Hi everyone,

We know it's a frustrating situation, and our team is working hard to resolve this compatibility issue.

Some changes were made late in the Firefox 22 beta releases that conflicted with the patches we had been creating for FF22. Because of these relatively "last minute" changes, we had to decide whether to delay the release of the entire patch because of the Norton Vulnerability Protection incompatibility, or to release what we already had made and work to fix that incompatible component.

We chose the latter, as we wanted our customers to at least have some degree of compatibility for the latest version of Firefox. We are also continuing to work on this problem to ensure Norton Vulnerability Protection is compatible with the latest Firefox 22 changes.

I hope this explains the situation a bit better. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I will answer them as best I can. I will also keep this forum thread updated with the latest information. Thanks for your patience while we sort this out. Tony Weiss Norton Forums Global Community Manager Symantec Corporation"

Your actual Norton protection is still running in the background, this is just about a useless extension that norton injects into Firefox.
