Firefox keeps freeing/hanging. First you will see the errors that pop up for me. Then the troubleshooting I have done to solve this problem.

Script Error: Script: http://z-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/browser-scripts/imageBlock/imageBlock-3190704718._V1_.js:773

Script: http://z-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/digital/sitb/reader/v4/201411111537/en_US/sitb-library-js._V319867744_.js:34

Script: http://z-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/browser-scripts/site-wide-js-1.2.6-beacon/site-wide-5809221203._V1_.js:184

For troubleshooting I have tried the following: disable addon's and restart in safe mode (did not help) disable theme and restart in safe mode (did not help) reset firefox (did not help) uninstalled Firefox & removed all traces of browser from my computer (yes even the registry was removed)

after doing the above I still had all my previous settings. I used IE to download a fresh copy and tired again. Still have all my settings, plugin's, tabs, and unremoved cookies and a little history

I am not tech savvy but the script errors made me think of Javascript. I went to about:config and searched for Java when javascript.enabled showed up I disabled and the problem has disappeared.

I know I need this javascript enabled. I cannot do much of anything at my site with is disabled.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this script hanging problem.

Thanks for any help.

There are two things I want you to try The first is to re-install Firefox using these instructions. If there is still a problem, then follow the instructions to Reset Firefox. Do the install FIRST !

Download Firefox Full Installer For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then;

Using your file browser, open the Programs folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla and Firefox folders by adding .old to them.

Now run the full installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.

Reset Firefox {web link} is a LAST RESORT ! !

Reset Firefox -- easily fix most problems

If you're having problems with Firefox, resetting it can help. The reset feature fixes many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information like bookmarks and open tabs.

I have this same problem running Firefox v37.0 exclusively on Linux Mint 17.1 -- never Windows. It does not matter which page I'm trying to view. Any page can be open when the error happens. The failing script is never the same (based on the DebugScript option). The failing line of code is never the same, but I'm not a javascript (*.js) programmer.

I've tried SafeMode, disabled extensions and plug-ins, full remove and re-install ... SAME ERRORS.

Amazon pages are a nightmare on Firefox, consuming massive CPU resources and causing massive memory leaks due to each amazon tab ALWAYS reloading multiple times before settling.

To try and get as clean a test as possible , I ran Firefox 35.01 (Windows 7 x64) on a freshly made Windows login id in safe mode with no extensions or altered user settings with all plugins disabled except java 8.45 & flash 17 and used the "Refresh Firefox" function AND STILL GOT THE PROBLEM! CPU zooms to 25% and stays there while the amazon tabs connect and reload over and over again, and memory usage climbs each time the amazon tabs are manually reloaded and the memory is not given back to the system when the amazon tabs are closed as evidenced by using the "Minimize memory usage" feature of about:memory, which recovers all the memory leaked by the closed amazon tabs.

I also confirmed what others discovered earlier, namely that ecx.images-amazon.com is the source of the problem, since when I blocked that link with adblock plus both the CPU and memory leak problem disappeared, though of course blocking that eliminated the images as well.

The band-aid solution for me was to install the YesScript extension and click on YesScript's little "scroll" looking button to blacklist amazon pages from using javascript. I did a few brief tests with my amazon account, adding stuff to my cart, clicking on checkout, editing the cart, etc. and nothing seemed to be missing or broken, though of course this is FAR from performing comprehensive testing.

So, not only did I "solve" the amazon.com tab CPU problem, I found the source of my Firefox memory leaks as well. This problem has nothing to do with plugins, extensions, clearing the cache, etc., etc. It's a nasty javascript incompatibility between amazon.com and Firefox, and with chrome as well as I understand it.

AsokAsusII That was very good work. Well Done. Please flag your last post as Solved Problem so others will know.

I've called the big guys to help you. Maybe they know what gives. I go to Amazon a lot. Never had a problem like that.
