Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox? Look inside. Look for the folder with the latest creation date.

Type about:profiles<enter> in the address bar. How many profiles are listed? How many should be there? Also, open the profile folder in your file explorer.

i had one profile with all my passwords. i have spent several hours doing things similar to what you have suggested. it seems the new firsfox usies a different system? vocabulary? things in different places? i tried using the "old profile" created when i accidentally deleted firefox and thunderbird. some were not copied to tehe old profiles. i am really going bananas over this. i have business to conduct. it should not be that hard! any other suggestions? passwors and email addresses and email folders with all my work related materials. i pulled down wat might be the right files backed up last night from carbonite but still don't know what to do...

Can you switch to the proper profile using about:profiles ?

it took took 6 hours with blind luck i got thunderbird back. still no luck with firefox. passwords are the issue. i did one little trick i came up with and got about half back. i downloaded a new browser and imported all the settings from firefox... then i imported those settings from the new browser into firefox!
