Cannot authenticate via POP to gmail
I have been using POP account to gmail for years in thunderbird. This morning I get the error that my username/password cannot be verified. I tried restarting thunderbird, then computer, then changing password in gmail via browser and trying again in thunderbird with new password. Still cannot authenticate.

Go to Tools > Account Settings > Affected Gmail Account > Server Settings. What are the current settings for Connection security and Authentication method?
Actually, I deleted the account so that I could try recreating it. And I just tried again recreating the account, and it worked fine. Who knows? I will guess it was user error on my part somehow.
