How do I switch back to the style prior to version 89.0?
The color scheme and the look of the browser are awful, and it's hard to see the plus sign to open a new tab. I would like to switch back to the previous color and style scheme (rectangular tabs and all). How can I do this?

Hi,
We really encourage that you stay on the latest version to get the best browsing experience.
Any options to go back would be temporary and I would not recommend them. You may wish to look at the themes in https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/ and look for a theme more to your liking.

The new Firefox is awful. I cant get rid of the limited search options. So restricting. I cant get a decent normal color scheme without an addon. New tabs are restricted to Firefox choice only.. that or blank. Whats happened to default as per my preference? I dont want to search in the top bar; just a normal Google search and results that I can read. Is Mozilla doing a Microsoft trick with this? Must revert I'm afraid - please fix as-was with new options for those so minded. Thank you
Seburo, this is about as far from the "best browsing experience" as you can get.
CHANGE IT BACK FIREFOX.
PS this will work, at least for now. I'm so disgusted right now.

I recommend the "DarkTheme" theme for anyone who has this problem. Sorry I didn't mark this as a good solution long ago. DarkTheme stops a lot of the eyeball burn, and gives enough contrast that the tabs are once again easy to use.

Is this about the feature where, when you start typing in the search box on the built-in Firefox Home / new tab page, the cursor jumps up to the address bar? There is a preference to turn that off, but it does take a bit of work to find it because of the unusual name:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste handoff and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar preference to switch the value from true to false
Success?
