the sidebar has gone missing after updating firefox from 5.0 to 6
I have been using the all-in-one sidebar extension, it worked until FF5.0. But after updating to 6.0 today, I don't even see the option of turning on a sidebar, be it all-in-one or just the out of the box unextended one. What has happened?
Chosen solution
Firefox 6.0 is a beta pre-release version, not due to be released for another 3 weeks.

See the bottom of that page - Version 0.7.14 June 19, 2011 449.5 KB - Works with: Firefox 4.0 - 6.0a2
It hasn't been bumped for 6.0b2 compatibility yet. Install and use this extension to force compatibility.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/
Then see how well it works in 6.0. There maybe a good reason that the compatibility hasn't been bumped to 6.0b yet, the developer may have some fixing to do.

Thanks. I installed the compatibility reporter, and also updated one extension - autopager. (somehow the update did not go automatically). When I restarted firefox, the sidebar was back. Thanks for showing me how.
You're welcome.
