Tiger is OS X 10.4: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_OS_X_v10.4

So Firefox 4+ versions won't run on that computer.

If that also is a PowerPC Mac then only TenFourFox may have been running on that computer.

Firefox 8.0 was indeed only released recently (and not a couple years ago) as proven by http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/8.0/releasenotes/ November 8th, 2011

Firefox 3.6.* (current is 3.6.24), 3.5.*, 3.0.*, 2.0.0.* and on (ex: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/releases/ missing some 3.5* and 3.6.*) are the versions that worked on OS X 10.4 Tiger.

http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/4.0/system-requirements/

Operating Systems
Mac OS X 10.5
Mac OS X 10.6

Recommended Hardware Macintosh computer with an Intel x86 processor

However Firefox 8.0.* and the 9.0 test Betas should run on your Windows XP computer.

the revised version of 8.0 was just released this november, that i what i thught they changed 8.0 and made it a plug and play where before it came with a installer. so i have to start over with 3.0 and how do i get them, when in go into foxfire it only wants to download 8.0 i have no other choice.

The Mac version is not a installer but a .dmg since forever starting at Firebird 0.6 (was called phoenix, then Firefox then Firefox since 0.8). Only the Windows version uses a installer. Firefox did come as a .zip version on Windows also years ago but the last was Firefox 1.0.1 way back in February 2005.

If you are referring to 8.0.1 then that is not a revision but a chemsill update to fix a crash issue on Mac OSX due to Java plugin and to try and deal with a startup crash issue caused by older Roboform version on Windows. The Firefox 8.0 was not released before November except for the Beta test builds.

There was no update to 8.0 to make it plug and play or whatever your thinking.

Again the Mac OSX 10.4 Tiger will only support up to Firefox 3.6.* while the Windows XP you posted this thread with should work with Firefox 8.0.*

If you are mistakenly typing out Firefox as Foxfire at times then it is understandable if you are mixing the versions you had on Mac OSX 10.4 and the Windows XP desktop.

For your Mac OSX 10.4 the current Firefox 3.6.* can be found at http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

it seems very funny to me that i run firefox 8.0 on my mac for all most a year, and then the revised it this Novenber. and now since it is a plug and play i can't use it anymore. i am not stupid, i know what i was using when they sent me 9 as a updated 8. that is why i deleted 8, because i thought 9 was to take over. and when i go into download firefox it tells me to down load 8 or 9 and nothing else. it also tells me that firefox will check your system and tell you what you need. i just wish i knew how to set the computer back to where it was before all of this took place. you people are of no help because you keep trying to tell me that i was not using 8, which i was

Did you try to install one of the mentioned Firefox 3.6.x or TenFourFox versions posted above on that that Mac.

As already posted Firefox 8 wasn't there a year ago, so you seem to be confusing it with another version.

Well you kept insisting rarlier that the new Firefox 8.0 release has been out for a long time ;). Also you said your OSX version on Mac was Tiger when asked which is the old 10.4.x

Tenforfox as said on their page basically is a third-party effort to have current Firefox builds for the old PPC hardware. One can even download the source and build it themselves on Windows, Mac, Linux and even some certain other OS's.

If for the Mac OSX 10.4, then the newest you can use is Firefox 3.6.24 unless you use a third-party build like from Tenforfox (if hardware is PPC and not Intel). The Firefox 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0 8.0 from Mozilla will not work on OSX 10.4 as you need at least OSX 10.5+ and Intel.
