How to set page margin for any site being viewed without back and forth scrolling?
Some sites and most forums, the threads cannot be read without scrolling the screen back and forth. How can these be set where all information is read without moving screen short of up or down and not side ways back and forth.

Some forums have a button or link named something like "Thread Tools" which has an option to display a "printable" view of the thread. This streamlined layout may suit your needs better.

You may have zoomed the page(s) by accident.
Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.
- View > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl/Command+0 (zero))
If you are no in full screen, use your mouse to make the window bigger.
Also check out NoSquint {web link} NoSquint allows you to adjust the text-only and full-page (both text and images) zoom levels as well as color settings both globally (for all sites) and per site.
Forum screens appear to be in a landscape view rather than portrait. Probably because Icons force text to screen ride side.
Tweaking text size smaller makes it difficult to read. Squint doesn't help. What would help if there was a way for text to be forced into wrap around. Control key and + or - key does the same to blow up or shrink the screen content.
Currently I have to copy the text, paste in Word, then size the page to fit what I want to read. I also use the READ feature in Word which is also helpful. I can also alter background colors to circumvent glare and pronounce text fonts better. If nothing else will work, I can get by with this.

What size monitor do you have? (diagonal measurement like with TV's) And what screen resolution are you using?
Right-click the Desktop, select Properties, then open Settings. Lower-left corner shows Screen Resolution. 1280 width is about the minimum horizontal resolution needed theses days. but many sites like this forum will work fine with ~1024 width without needing to show a horizontal scroll bar.
Wide format, flat-screen monitors are under $100 dollars when you find them on sale. But you might need one with a VGA connection for an old WinXP era PC, so you need to look for that "feature".
Thank you all for attempts to satisfy my needs. The last concerning my screen is 19 inches and 800 resolution. I'm very long in the tooth and if I go higher in resolution I have to play squint the fonts are so small. Crank them up and I'm back to scrolling back and forth on the screen.
Again thanks for help but I' m not interested in spending money on newer haha state of the art equipment just to satisfy the need of cyber space Ad purveyors to post their wares. Graphics I can do without as well. If they want me to see what they have to offer, then stop messing with what once worked just fine.
I still have Word where I can do with whatever I copy n paste to get done what I need. The convenience of doing so right at the site isn't a requirement as such. Being a retired Master Electronics Technician, I'm short on computer orientations but long on other kinds of smarts.

If I may make one last suggestion, move your mouse to an empty area on the page. Then press the mouse wheel. This will turn the mouse into a scroll control. By moving the mouse, the screen will move the same way.
Hey, I'm 64 yo and have some vision problems, and I am a former Aviation Electronics Technician in the US Navy.
I was having the same problem with a 19" monitor with 800 x 600 resolution for a few years, as websites were being updated in 2005 - 2009. I got a 20" widescreen flat-screen monitor on sale for $89.00 during a pre-opening "Black Friday" sale in 2009; now-a-days I see prices almost that low every few weeks in ads in the newspaper. I'm using it at 1280 x 768 resolution, less that the default and not as sharp as it could be, but the text is large enough to read webpages.
BTW, "state of the art: is like 27" monitors. Hell, my TV isn't that large.
Maybe consider to buy an LCD screen as theses are quite cheep theses days and will work with all graphics display cards in most cases (i.e. they do not need a high refresh frequency). You may need one that supports 4:3 if your graphics display doesn't support 16:10 resolutions.
A display the only has 800px horizontally will require a lot of scrolling as most websites assume that visitors have a wide screen monitor and only a few work with 1024 and others require at least 100 or 1200. Otherwise you would have to zoom out.

Okay guys, I'm at a pair of 7's old and money don't grow on trees. Time for all things I do be a wear it out, salvage what I can, wear it out again, then salvage what I......you get the idea. I am the proud owner of two vehicles. Half ton Silverado, 1988 and 3/4 ton conversion van 1989. My vehicles are older than my grandchildren. My rebuilt home was built in 1904. I did it all. It like my vehicles serves we well, blasted electronics media junk don't. I just disposed of an old IBM PSI recently. Hard drive gave out and I said no, not gonna repair it again. Salvaged parts are cheap but not worth the effort to mess with when they get that old. That was my shop computer.
Believe it or not, I too am an old salt. Did the poly-wog thing and then shell back. I was a sparky and to this day over55 years ago, I still can do the Morse code bit. At one time I could handle 20 WPM or better.
