I have no disk space on my c drive and would like to know if I can safely remove older versions of Mozilla Foxfire without endangering my current use of this browser? I currently had Mozilla 42.0.

Do you actually see multiple Firefox versions installed or are you talking about the setup installer files and not the installed application?

In a lot of cases the uninstall key in the windows registry isn't updated properly and multiple versions show in the uninstall list, but there is actually only one Firefox version installed and uninstalling an older version will remove the current release and not the older version that merely still shows as the result of an orphaned registry key. You can check for multiple profile folders and for an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop as the result of a refresh.

  • C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

"AppData" (XP: Application Data; Mac: ~/Library; Linux: ~/.mozilla) is a hidden folder.

What I see on my desktop, for example, is: Mozilla set up 3.5.3 and Set up 3.0.10. That's what I mean. It sounds like that doesn't matter and they are just Icons and leave them be. Currently my Mozilla is 42.0. I was looking to free up space on my 'C' drive.

Setup files are OK to delete since you're done with the installation of Firefox. Think of it as a box that was used to hold something you've bought - you've got the product, so you don't need its packaging anymore. (Hope that analogy makes sense).
