This problem began with Firefox 4. My home page is the Classic Google web search page, but I also have some iGoogle pages. On the Classic page, I click on the gear wheel in the top right corner to select the iGoogle page. I should be able to get back to the Classic page by clicking the same icon and selecting "Classic" - but this no longer works. In fact, once on the iGoogle page, neither of the icons in the upper right will produce a drop-down menu when clicked. If I use IE or Safari, these icons operate normally.

In FF4 you have to right click the back/forward buttons to get a list of the previously visited sites.

If the list is too long, hit CTRL+H to open history, change View to "Last Visited" and select it that way instead.

That's a fudge that is only a partial fix. The 'gear wheel' icon gives a drop-down menu for: iGoogle Settings/Search Settings/iGoogle Help/Classic Home. Next to that icon is a link (one's username) which should give access to : View Profile/Account Settings/Privacy/Sign out. Using FF4 neither of these drop-downs appears, denying access to the menu items.

I have now downgraded to FF3.6 and the drop-downs work perfectly, with the added bonus that the page tabs are back where they oughter be - at the top of the page, not the top of the FF window above all other toolbars!

There's nothing to prevent you from moving tabs to below the search bar if you want to. I've relocated them there myself.

But since you've downgraded to 3.6, I'd recommend you update to v3.6.16 via the Help | Check For Updates menu if you haven't got it already.

There was a security breach at Comodo which is an SSL certificate provider whereby a number of fraudulent certificates were inadvertently issued. This allows a hacker to impersonate any site including online banking and your browser will not display a warning if you're running a prior version. v3.6.16 blacklists those certificates.
