when i use the awesome bar, I type in a letter and it finds the site I want but even if I hit enter it does not take me to the site. What do I do to fix this?

I can open Firefox and once it's open I can access any of the articles on my AOL home page and I can access any of my saved favorites. However, if I type in a letter on the awesome bar it will quickly find the site I'm looking for but it will not take me to the site even if I hit ENTER. I tried G for Google, which I go to a lot and it would not bring up Google's site. This happens for every website I try. I cannot enter anything into the address bar and go to the site. I am also now getting a Java Script Application Error - Type Error: Components. Classes [cid] is undeliverable. What do I do to fix this issue? Is Malware causing the problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.

On the second issue, please see this thread on how to determine the cause of the JavaScript error: Javascript pop errors stating: TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help

On the first issue, I haven't associated single letters with sites, so I'm not sure how that feature works. I usually type a few letters then arrow down or click on the one I want.

I have entered several letters and it does find the site I want(often with only one letter typed in) and gives me the list of sites to choose from that it deems a match. I select the one i want but the website does not open. It does this for any website I look for. It finds the website address but won't open it. It WILL open anything in my favorites or anything on the MSN home page.

Any thoughts?

I suggest diagnosing the misbehaving add-on problem first. Hopefully that will solve the urlbar problem at the same time.
