It used to work, maybe 2 or 3 months ago. I have Firefox and Windows on automatic update. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Flash multiple times. I am running a notebook with WIndows 7, Firefox, and AVG using a wireless router in a home network connected to the Internet through Verizon fibreoptics.

In May (2 months ago), my previous notebook crashed. The problem was present on that device and is present on this notebook, which differs primarily in the manufacturer-installed operating system and utility software.

I note that this question has come up multiple times on Mozilla and Yahoo websites and has not resulted in a published fix. I think I have tried everything at least once. I have plenty of speed and bandwidth.

Hello,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

Thank you.

Thank you, yes, I already tried Firefox in Safe Mode. The problem was still there. Just to be careful, I've cleaned up my add-ons as best I can.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Thanks. Tried it. No change visiting a video I had tried earlier this morning. Not sure I pressed F8 at the right time, though. Haven't seen Windows Safe Mode before.

Thank you. Booted in safe mode. Problem persists.
