Firefox no longer recognizes wireless printer! HELP!
As others have posted numerous times, I am no longer able to print from my Canon MX340 printer. All was fine until I updated Firefox a couple of weeks ago. The printer works PERFECTLY AS IT SHOULD from Internet Explorer, Google, Iron browsers, so it HAS to do something with Firefox. and NOT the printer.
I have already tried to reset the printer settings in about:config as suggested by many, but this does NOT solve the problem. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, but this does nothing to solve the printer issue either.
Would you PLEASE tell me, as well as the many others having this same issue, how this is to be resolved or if we'll have to wait until the next update to see any change? I really don't want to go back to using Internet Explorer!

DISCOVERED THE ISSUE WAS A PLUG-IN AUTOMATICALLY PUT ON MY MACHINE DIRECTLY FROM THE CANON PRINTER INSTALL DISC. ONCE I REMOVED THE PLUG-IN (ONE SPECIFIC .DLL FILE WAS REALLY CAUSING THE PROBLEM), MY PRINTER WORKS IN FIREFOX AGAIN!
IF YOU HAVE THE PLUG-IN FROM CANON TITLED, "CANON iMAGE GATEWAY Album Plugin Utility" YOU MAY WANT TO DELETE IT FROM FIREFOX AND YOUR COMPUTER. THE SPECIFIC .DLL FILE (NPEZFFPI.DLL), DOES NOT PLAY NICE WITH FIREFOX FOR SOME REASON.
JUST WANTED TO PUT THAT OUT THERE IN CASE ANYONE IS EXPERIENCING PRINT ISSUES WITH FIREFOX AND THEIR CANON PRINTER.

Sorry for the delay in our response, we understand that your time is precious and that printing is a need for what you do.
Have you tried visiting Canon for new printer software or updates that may resolve this issue? Also, have you tried uninstalling the printer software and installing it back and setting up your printer?

Thank you for trying to help! Yes, I have gone to the Canon website and tried installing the drivers they have for my printer but my computer said it already had newer drivers already installed.
I have even gone so far as completely uninstalling everything Canon and starting over from scratch with the original printer software that came with the printer. No luck.
There's got to be something within Firefox that is blocking my printer. Like I stated in my original post, everything works fine when I'm in other browsers like Internet Explorer, Google, or Iron.
What else could it be?
In order to be able to find the correct solution to your problem, we require some more non-personal information from you. Please do the following:
- Click the Firefox button at the top left, then click the Help menu and select Troubleshooting Information from the submenu. If you don't have a Firefox button, click the Help menu at the top and select Troubleshooting Information from the menu.

i have recommended this procedure because quite a few other users have reported that the printer dialog doesn't show up with firefox 27 and up and avast. many antivirus programs still stay active in the background even if their UI shows them as disabled - so i think it's better to test it by uninstalling avast. after a restart it should be immediately apparent if printing works again in firefox.

Uninstalled the avast! antivirus and restarted the computer. Attempted to print something from Firefox - NOTHING! Got the same error message! WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!?!?!?
I'm reinstalling avast! now . . .
By the way, I also disabled all my add-ons before attempting to print. Thought it would help. :(

I have this problem as well with my Canon printer. I have installed the latest software/drivers from Canon's website. Tried various solutions from this site including disabling A/V software, run diagnostics & my Canon printer will not print from Firefox. I don't get any error msgs just a Windows error sound & no print dialog. Printer works fine with any other program on my desktop including Explorer. Problem started with Firefox 27, then also with v28. Uninstalled Firefox, then reinstalled older v26.0 & printer problems went away...

Yep! That's exactly my problem - STILL! I just figured that it's a Firefox issue and until they come up with a new version that corrects this, I'm going to use either Internet Explorer or Iron browsers if I need to print anything. There's nothing wrong with the printer, I know that. Maybe I'll do what you did and downgrade to FF v26 . . .
UPDATE: 3/31/14 Uninstalled FF 28 and reinstalled FF 26. DID NOT HELP AT ALL! STILL GET THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE: "An error occurred while printing".
I do not know what is wrong anymore. I have already done the following things to try to solve this: 1) Uninstalled/reinstalled FF (different versions) - same results. 2) Ran FF WITHOUT use of Avast! Antivirus - same results. 3) Ran FF WITHOUT use of Private Firewall - same results. 4) Uninstalled/reinstalled printer and printer drivers - same results. PRINTER WORKS FINE ON MY OTHER COMPUTER RUNNING SAME OPERATING SYSTEM, WINDOWS 7. 5) Reset FF - same results. 6) Ran CCleaner - same results. 7) Ran Malwarebytes Antimalware Premium - same results. 8) Tried to print with add-ons DISABLED - same results.

Called Dell support and it was determined that my operating system had several corrupted files and was helped to install a fresh copy of Windows.
PROBLEM SOLVED!
