HI,

Adobe flash has a critical vulnerability now. The fix might be in a week. Does anyone know if when there is a critical vulnerability such as there is now, if it is safe to watch things such as youtubes?

I allow when adobe is on or off, but just wondering what is safe to do when there is a critical vulnerability.

Thanks!

Hello.

You need to contact Adobe about this.

See below. Temporary workaround for Adobe Reader under "Mitigations" in the first article. Only suggestion in first artile for Flash is to install the beta of Flash 10.1 (link in article). I have been using Flash 10.1beta for several weeks with no issue; this is not a guarantee for you, though: http://www.adobe.com/support/security/advisories/apsa10-01.html http://blogs.pcmag.com/securitywatch/2010/06/zero-day_attacks_hitting_flash.php

Thanks! I am leery of the work around as they say like you said, no guarantees.

I can't post on adobe and ask as would have to sign in and this isn't something they would speak to.

I just thought someone here might know when people are at risk.

Thank you both for your replies!

So, I guess it would be asking too much for you to block the flash plugin from starting, just as you have done for similar issues in the past?

Adobe Flashplayer 10.1 update just made available today 2010-06-10.

Install/Update Adobe Flash Player for Firefox: your ver. N/A; current ver. 10.1 (important security update 2010-06-10) See: Updating Flash -use Firefox to download and SAVE to your hard drive (save to Desktop for easy access) -exit Firefox (File > Exit) -check to see that Firefox is completely closed (Ctrl+Alt+Del, choose Task Manager, click Processes tab, if "firefox.exe" is on the list, right-click "firefox.exe" and choose End process, close the Task Manager window) -double-click on the Adobe Flash installer you just downloaded to install/update Adobe Flash -when the Flash installation is complete, start Firefox, and test the Flash installation here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_15507&sliceId=1
