Hi I use Ubuntu myself and have recently updated to the new version. You should find that Firefox will connect automatically when you have entered your wireless ID and password into Ubuntu. Assuming your wireless router is on, look for the WiFi indicator on the top right of the screen. You should be able to go into this menu select your network and enter the network password.
