"Please add the option to disable focus in the address bar when opening a new tab. When I open a new tab the search bar gets big with a blue frame around it, so annoying, please add the option to disable this."

How can I send this suggestion to the developers? and get an email that they read my suggestion?..

Hi Dana, Firefox 78, which will be released in a few days, does have a checkbox for preventing the automatic drop-down from the address bar, on the Options page:

Firefox 78 also will not initially animate/enlarge when the cursor enters the box *if* you have a system-level preference for reduced animations. You also can create a new preference in about:config if you do not have the option to set it at the system level. Here's how:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste the new preference name

ui.prefersReducedMotion

If this preference was already created and shows a value of 0, skip to step (4).

(3) On the bar with the preference name, click the radio button next to Number and click the + button to add the preference. Then Firefox should display the new value.

(4) Set the value to 1 (double-click to edit if necessary) and click the blue checkmark button or press Enter to save the change.

Screenshot sequence attached for reference.

Hi,

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback or use this link. Your feedback gets collected by a team of people who read it and gather data about the most common issues

I don't want to download any extensions and do complicated strange things to the browser. Just wanted that the developers would see my suggestion, and add a simple "enable / disable" button on the next update.

Hello Dana,

My guess is that a hundred thousand users   (or more)   want that too and that many of them have submitted their feedback .....

I just submitted a link to this thread as feedback, using the same link you did .....

And I am not expecting an email to confirm receipt;   if they had to do that, they wouldn't have time to actually do something with the content of the feedback they received.

Why not? The Microsoft Edge browser for example has this feature that after i send a feedback, if i chose to add an email address to the message, i received an approval to my mail that the message has been sent and they received it.

It's automatically sending "We received your message. Thank you for contacting us / Thanks for your feedback. ‏We will take notice of your message / We will pass on your suggestions to our developers team" and they added a quote of what exactly I wrote.

Just for the feeling that at least my message was sent somewhere and actually there is someone reading this.

Firefox is a free product;   Mozilla, the company that makes Firefox, doesn't have the financial means to have employees sitting behind a desk sending thousands and thousands of confirmation emails per day (as opposed to Microsoft).

I hope that you will just take my word for it when I say that your feedback will be read.

I meant that they will just add the option to add an email address to the feedback message, just to get an automatically approval message to the mail

I didn't mean that someone will be sitting behind a desk and sending this

I meant that it will be automatic that I will receive the quote of what I wrote and that they will add something like "Thanks for the feedback, we reviewing your message"

As I have sent this thread as a link to that feedback page;   I am confident
that they will read your request.

One "but" though :
It says on that page, not to post any personal information, as what you post
there is public.
An email address falls in the category "Personal" .....

Thank you, I hope so

I will just be happy to receive an automatic approval to my mail like I mentioned above
