When I try to get on the browser, I receive a message "Mozilla Firefox not responding. After a while a box pops up "Warning: Unresponsive Script: A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script: chrome://ytoolbar/content/toolbarBuilder.js:83" I've let it continue to run but didn't help. I've tried all of your techniques suggested on you site for Unresponsive Script, but nothing helped. I've increased dom.max_script__run_time to 20, downloaded Places Maintenance 1.0, etc. I've tried reloading Firefox as well as chrome and nothing works.

I would expect that is from your "Yahoo Toolbars" extension though the way "YonToo" extension gets installed doesn't look very good from comments about riding along with the installation of another extension.

Getting rid of the "Yahoo Toolbar" is not clean like the extensions you will find at addons.

Yahoo Toolbar messes up Location Bar Search

Remove the Yahoo Toolbar

  1. "Ctrl+Shift+A" (Add-ons Manager)
  2. Select Puzzle piece on left-side for Extensions List
  3. Find "Yahoo Toolbar" and click on "Uninstall" button, and restart Firefox. (if you really need to keep the Yahoo toolbar, you can hide the toolbar instead with customize, and still change all the search defaults as below)

Then to fix the default search engine used at the Location Bar, change the value of keyword.URL in about:config to one of the values shown in Location Bar search at MozillaZine.

  1. type in about:config into the location bar (in a new tab)
  2. if the warning message nonsense comes up uncheck the box before dismissing the dialog message
  3. filter on keyword
  4. right-click on keyword.URL and choose "modify" then paste in the Google search engine string of your choice.
  5. filter on defaulturl
  6. right-click on browser.search.defaulturl (if it exists)and again choose "modify" then paste in the Google search engine string of your choice.
  7. filter on ytff
  8. right-click on yahoo.ytff.search.popup_src (if it exists) and again choose "modify" then paste in the Google search engine string of your choice, if adventurous might see if "reset" would remove and see if gone in next session (well not for those keeping the extension).

Avoiding the problems: Many software installations contain additional baggage known as crapware. The Yahoo Toolbar is packaged with Java picture

More information on ask.com, Yahoo Toolbars which involve extensions, not just changes to the home page.

More information on configuration variables available in about:config entries and for users not familiar with the process there is about:config (How to change).

A lot of people are questioning the installation of YonToo as crapware with another install.

Hi,

I get this and other non-responsive script messages, especially on the 'Group your tabs' page, which precludes (or delays) me from selecting my next tab group as a new box often appears. Some start chrome: (I dont have Chrome installed) or resourse: wrt another reply, I don't have the Yahoo toolbar

Another (linked?) problem is that the tab groups get jumbled up, and I believe some tabs get swapped to different groups.

What's going wrong with firefox? Is a solution in sight?
