I like Quantum, and it has a some neat features. However, I'm not thrilled with is the Highlights and Top Sites features. Only because they insist on throwing a thumbnail of the site on the page, and as FF is my preference for 'personal' surfing, I'd rather keep the thumbnails to a minimum.

The overall functionality of Top Sites and Highlights is very useful, but I'd like to find a way to just turn off thumbnails for those features. Searching for forums just takes me to global image disable for older versions of FF.

Any ideas?

edit - Clarified my question. I want to keep the links AND lose the thumbnails, or change the thumbnails to favicons.

Can remove them all.

You can double the amount of thumbs. I read that there was a little tiny thing to click just above them right top.

Mine are gone, so cannot look to make sure. If can not find that : Make top sites in tab page more (smaller icons) Copy/paste about:config into the address bar and press enter. Accept Warning then at the top of that page is the search bar copy/paste browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.topSitesCount into the search bar you can double the number there from 6 to 12 or more to expand the amount. It is not unlimited so do not push it more than 6 at a time as think that's how many to a row. I only saw it for about 30 secs.

Just remember what you did so.....

Which is what that little thing is suppose to do.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I bumped it to 36, and that seems to be ok. But I still don't see a way to shut off the thumbnail from highlights.

Maybe it's not baked into FF, so I'll just put that on my wishlish, an option to replace a Highlights thumbnail with a favicon.

What happens when you put to 0 ?

Top Sites are gone completely, even when the Top Sites box is checked.

As I increase the number, highlights is pushed further and further down the screen. I've tried up to 72 so far.

By increasing those little guys your increasing your web traffic as it has to go out and get info to create the thumbnail. How may times a day ? As that is in a diff area but the same with diff name so can not tell it only go out x amount of times if do not know how. Just wanted you to be aware of this, just came to me.

Noted.

That still doesn't address my question about Highlights, though.

I'm trying to have my pie and eat it, too.

I want to keep highlights enabled, but turn off the thumbnails for them. I don't like it when thumbnails grab an X-rated screen shot of a recently visited site.

Ya....ahha ya very embarrassing moments to be had. I think maybe you are pie might not be big enough and go all the way to cake. Marie Antoinette style. Ok, so took a while to find that URL sorry. Learned a lot, I know know can take it to 72. Thanks

At least I know by bumping it to 36, Top Sites forces Highlights off the visible portion of my screen. It's a compromise for now, we'll see what future updates bring us.

Thank you for your help.
