I had to install Firefox on a new desktop and I can not get my bookmarks to show on the right side of the screen permanently. The bar will show when i select on the menu and its on the top of the screen but why can I get it back like I had it on my other PC with the bookmarks on the side?

Ctl+b will show bookmarks in a sidebar but (in my browser at least) it's on the left. You can probably change the location with userChrome.css.
