Also I had previous question s about Facebook not showing all my posts from Sept to recent. It does it in Chrome as well yet it works on my android phone i see all of them there. I have done everything i know to do. have contacted Facebook firefox Get human and no has been able to really explain or solve the problem
I really am not sure it is a Facebook problem or a browser problem. I think facebook has changed something because o my time line it always says recent
and only the most recent shared posts show up. then i get where it looks like it wants to load and i get 3 vertical blue lines that just keep moving
https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/60.0/releasenotes/ Thunderbird version 60.0 is only offered as direct download from thunderbird.net and not as upgrade from Thunderbird version 52 or earlier. A future version 60.1 will provide updates from earlier versions.
IMPORTANT: Add-ons not marked as compatible with Thunderbird 60 by their authors will be disabled (this can be reverted via preference extensions.strictCompatibility)

https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/60.2.1/releasenotes/ Thunderbird version 60.2.1 provides an automatic update from Thunderbird version 52. Note that Thunderbird version 60.1.0 and 60.2.0 were skipped. If you have installed Lightning, Thunderbird's Calendar add-on, it will automatically be updated to match the new version of Thunderbird.
when will the automatic up date for 529,.1 be released and is it available now and if so why didn't it i update automatically
if it is available where do i get it
This is the link to the official download for current releases, where you can choose your preferred language and download suitable for your Operating system. https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/
You could see if 'Help' > 'About Thunderbird' offers an opportunity to update.
If using some older OS eg: Vista, then it will not offer update.
what i want to know is will 52.9.1 automatically update. 60.0 is not what i want i d ont want to have to uninstall and reinstall Thunderbird and lose all my addrees book and all my drafts. Will there be an automatic update for Thunderbird
if so when? As of now it says52.9.1 is up to date/. I have set to update automatically. is there going to be a new release for an automatic update in the future. it says i am currently on the release update channel and that Thunderbird is up to date at 52.9.1. If there is no release up date can i stay on 52.9.1 indefinitely
Uninstalling the program via Control Panel > Programs and Featuresand reinstalling the program is only installing the program which is usually stored in your C: Drive Program Files location.
It does not do anything to your profile folders which are stored in an entirely different location in your User Account > Appdata > Thunderbird folder.
Never use a product like CCLeaner to remove a program as it likely to effect the profile.
If you have an operating system that can accept the update then it should auto update at some point soon. I'm aware that auto update was delayed in early October, but it was enabled again. However, you can perform the update yourself by using the link I provided to the official download page. https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/
Make sure all is set up to accept auto updates: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/advanced-panel-settings-in-thunderbird#w_update-tab
i have it configured per the instructions you sent the only thing i do not see is the warn me if this will disable my add ons. that is not on my advanced tab everything else is correct per the photos . so it is my understanding that it should update automatically correct? I had elected to not install 60.0 because some of the ad ons i use were no longer supported such as the emojis etc. I also have over 500 items in drafts but they are not what you'd consider drafts. they contain things such as registration keys to programs i have purchased, important and personal info from sites. letters from people i want to keep who are deceased stuff like that. I guess where i keep them is not really drafts but it is a convenient place to keep them. all that would have to be brought to the new 60.0 so id prefer to kep wht i have until i get the automatic update . thanks for responding and trying to help me
Do yourself a favor and avoid version 60.x for now. So far it is a train wreck! I would make folders under the Thunderbird Local Folders account for your keeper messages and use Drafts for what is was designed for. Then make backups. Email IS NOT safe permanent storage.
Agree with Airmail. If you are happy with 52.9.1 then I'd stay put for now as all is working ok. They are trying to iron out some gremlins. As you can see from the release notes, there have been a load of Changes, fixes of bugs and also Security updates. Version 60* has many changes, more than the usual.
But there is nothing stopping you from trying the current version and if you have issues you can revert to an older version.
Is is not so easy to use a variety of addons as many authors have not updated their addons to be suitable for version 60 which includes the current version 60.2.1
You would have to check out what addons you use and whether the authors have updated or not. Some authors of addons are waiting to have their addons checked as ok.
IMPORTANT: Add-ons not marked as compatible with Thunderbird 60 by their authors will be disabled (this can be reverted via preference extensions.strictCompatibility)
If required there is a means of switching this off via:
- 'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > Advanced' > General' tab
- Click on 'Config Editor' button and accessing the 'about:config' window.
- In top search type : strictCompatibility
- look for this line: extensions.strictCompatibility
- double click on line to toggle the value.
- close window - top right X
- click on OK
- Restart Thunderbird.
Strongly suggest you do not use the 'Drafts' folder for something it is not designed to be used for. Create new folders and organise those emails.
Strongly advise you create a backup of the 'Thunderbird' folder in this location: C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird
This will backup everything to do with profile including the 'profiles.ini' file. Store in an external hardrive or other suitable storage device which is large enough.
thank you for your advice. i will just wait for the update you both have been very helpful
