We use send and file add-on / extension but it's no longer being developed, can someone rewrite this for us?
Hi All, Hope some one can help. I think we need to find a developer who can write add ons and who can re-write the send and file add on so it works with new versions of TB.

Please let me know where I can get help with this.
Many thanks, J

Many people probably feel the same when an addon they have become accustomed to using suddenly is no longer going to be available. Some may feel disappointed at the inconvenience, but move on adjusting to the situation. Some can sound or come across as downright angry as if they are being deprived of a given right.
It takes a lot of time to write addon extensions. Many authors of addons rely on donations to maintain the addons so affording them some time to devote to the task. But the issue of updating so it keeps working on TB versions from 60 onwards is not just a tweak, this is something entirely different. Recent changes mean things need a complete rewrite. It may mean learning new skills to do this.
Sometimes, a programer requires for themselves a specific functionality and so they develop the code. Then they can offer it as an addon and hopefully get donations to help offset the time involved. Maybe, someone already using that addon is a programer with the requisite skills and they may feel they can help on an ongoing long term basis.
You cannot necessarily rely or hope that someone with those kind of technical skills being willing to potentially work for nothing for someone elses' benefit.
You would be amazed at how people expect to pay eg: a mechanic to get a car fixed but are not so willing to pay for programs they use as it is not a tangible thing they can appreciate. Some people donate as they appreciate the use of the software, but many do not.
So, all in all, finding an author is not impossible but it is not that simple.
Thanks Toad-Hall I tried on people per hour but wasn’t confident in the responses, and the commission charged by pph seems excessive. Of course we’d pay the developer and make it open afterward. But there seems to be no list of mozzila developers so I thought to try post here. Are there any forums where they might hang out?
Thanks sfhowes. I’ll take a look at that forum and see if I can make it work. Programming/building software is not my strong point though.
