Amazon Prime Video Widevine
Used to work but no longer does. Amazon video works fine in IE, worked fine in FF yesterday now fails with Amazon 7235 error and saying update widevine. Widevine says no new updates when update check is intialized.

I just tested this method in my version of Firefox 68.0.2 and it worked flawlessly. I would recommend creating a new Test Profile to try it in your version.
Start Firefox Type or paste about:profiles in the address bar Press Enter Look for your Default Profile Next to Root Directory click the Open Folder button Close Firefox
In your Profile Folder find the folder gmp-widevinecdm Move it to your desktop
Start Firefox A new WidevineDRM module will install Go to Add-ons/Plugins and Check For Updates
You can delete the gmp-widevinecdm folder on your desktop.

I just created a new profile and Widevine loaded in at 4.10.1440.19
So now Firefox 69.0 with all 3 plugins updated and Amazon prime videos are working.

Note that current Nightly in Firefox 71.0a1, so you have a very old Firefox version.
Thanks for your anwser, indeed it seems that I forgot to re-enable the Firefox Nightly PPA after upgrading Ubuntu, that's why I didn't have any update... Now I'm running Firefox 71.0a1 and Prime Video works like a charm!
For some folks, the newest (2019 ver. 71.0 64 bit) Firefox upgrade often results in "false" connectivity issues with Netflix, as well as undergoing WideVine crashes.
After checking all connections, upgrading all related software for internet connectivity, as well re-installing Firefox several times, I found that by going to Options>General Tab>Network Settings, and clicking on the "Auto-detect proxy settings for this network" worked as a solution for my particular problem.
Please share this 'fix' so that others may give it a try...
Thank you however mine has always been set to auto detect so no joy. The Opera browser has turned out to be the only solution to my problem for these issues.
I'm flabbergasted at how this is *still* an issue. I have tried a default Windows 10, an unfirewalled internet router, a fresh unplugined profile, a new firefox install, switching on/off DRM, none of it works. Both netflix and amazon prime do not play any DRM video any longer in Firefox. Has been that way since about half a year now. Before that the 'solutions' and workarounds worked. Not anymore.
So, I have to resort to the dipshits of google Chrome *just to be able to watch video* on these channels. And I find it worrying that Chrome is apparently able to do this flawlessly. Perhaps try and see how they do this and then build a "be like chrome for x hours" switch into firefox, in order to remain private, ad and tracking free, after watching that one movie? How hard can that be? If Chrome can do it, why can't firefox? I hate using chrome. Installed a Chrome portable which puts everything it uses and stores in one directory *just for this purpose alone*. So basically Chrome Portable is my DRM video player now. Thus far it's the only solution that actually works for me.

I am still using OPERA browser as it works ,has always worked and I can choose to switch to VPN mode if I wish. CHROME will not even run on my machine much less install. Some remnant of and old install that did not get cleaned out of the registry has that screwed up and I do not have the time or desire to track it down as long as OPERA works.
This of course does not explain why FF still does not work and what they did to break it as it worked fine until somewhere in mid year of 2019. Another problem I have spent far to many hours trying to track down the reason for to bother with any more.
Good Luck
