I had to do a system restore on my PC, after this my Firefox started messing up, my homepage changed by itself and I started getting ads everywhere. I did all the malware checks, virus checks etc and cleaned the PC up. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it. Everything else works ok but I am getting ads all over the place, pop-ups, tracked ads, all sorts of ads, pages popping up telling me to download the latest video player or download manager. How can I get rid of all this?

Sounds that you still have some malware installed.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

It seems to have worked, thank you. All I get now is pop-ups from "akamaihd.net" but my adblock pop-up extension is blocking them. Is there any way to stop them completely? Thanks again for the help.
