Where did the "Use Small Icons" button in Customize Toolbar (or equivalent) go?
I think my toolbar is taking up to much screen space since I installed Firefox version 29.0. I want as much screen space for the web pages as possible but still have my toolbar accessible at all times. Is there any way to make what the "Use Small Icons" button in Customize Toolbar did with some other (hidden) setting? I don't mind if it crops the top and bottom of "big buttons".
I've read something about a "Classic Theme Restorer", is that the only recommended way to go for now?
-- Thanks for a terrific web browser, I have been using it as my main browser since version 1.0.x.

Thanks, but that doesn't make the icons smaller in size like the old way used to work.
I'm trying out the Classic Theme Restorer extension to see if it will fix it. So far it seems to have a bug that I've informed the author about.

That feature is gone.
I'm using this to get a tool bar area that is very close to what it was with small icons.

I am specifically avoiding install Classic Theme Restorer and using mostly User Styles or userChrome and userContent.
Minimal for Australis doesn't actually correct the problem and duplicate the "Use Small Icons" feature.
You can experiment with the padding of the toolbar buttons to make them take less horizontal space.
Add code to the userChrome.css file below the default @namespace line.
@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */ #nav-bar > hbox > toolbarbutton {padding-left:2px!important; padding-right:2px!important} #nav-bar > hbox > toolbarbutton > .toolbarbutton-icon {padding-left:2px!important; padding-right:2px!important}
The customization files userChrome.css (user interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the chrome folder in the Firefox profile folder.

Try this add-on. It works for me. It is just the small icons option as it used to be but with Australis, no more changes or problems, just easy.

I have also tried out "Classic Theme Restorer" (by "Aris") and I think it does what I want it to this far. It enables me to both use "Small Buttons" and also revert some of the features back to the way I want them (like navigation and bookmarks), while I can select which of the new Australis features I want to try out and keep. So as long as the "Classic Theme Restorer" will be developed and supports the current version of Firefox I think I'll be fine. :)
A big thank you to the community for all your ideas and suggestions above!
(I've also been taking a look at "Pale Moon" which had a few things I really liked, but I don't know if I'm allowed to mention other Mozilla browser forks in this forum.)
