Running Window Vista 32Bit Home Premium. Firefox crashes whilst viewing ActiveX YouTube videos. Not all YouTube videos require Flash but most do.

This has been going on for over 2 years now. Every new version of Firefox has not helped. We always uninstall Firefox and Flash and clean system prior to reinstalling and every time Firefox crashes - it only tends to be videos from YouTube but may also be a problem with other Video sharing websites.

Can you advise what the hell is going on?

You said, Firefox crashes whilst viewing ActiveX YouTube videos. Could you explain that? ActiveX is a technology used by Internet Explorer.

You can try a systematic approach by seeing if the crashes go away in Firefox Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode. See the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for more information.

The crash is a problem with the Flash plugin (NPSWF32.DLL)

Do you have Flash videos open in more than one tab or window?
