YEAH? SO WHY DID ESR24 UPDATE TO THE MAINSTREAM RELEASE CHANNEL?
Whys all information and links to different versions have to disappear from the main page? Why's newer firefoxes have to include a bunch of unrelated-to-web-browsing .. like hello and persona? WHy do I have to ask a new question instead of replying? Why's it gotta be so difficult to sign up to mozila support instead of continuing an existing thread?
The whole point of add-ons is I don't want the suff from day one.

ESR 24 is no longer supported, ESR 24 updated to ESR 31 some time ago.
No, it didn't. It updated to the release channel, with no links to any info, and any useful info or links dropped completely off the main page, implying firefox was no longer even doing ESR. The browser and the website both became a joke that day.
If you dislike automatic updates, you can disable them. I am still using Firefox 24esr (for testing only, not regular browsing), and it never tries to update because I made sure that was disabled.
Yip, but then if you do try to update it goes to the release channel, with no sign of ESR anywhere.
A version on the ESR channel would not update to a Release as they are separate. If you updated to the current Release at time then you were likely using the Firefox 24.0 Release and not Firefox 24.8.1 ESR which was the last security/stability update for the old 24.0.*.* ESR released back on September 24, 2014
The ESR version are based on Release every seven versions as in 10.0, 17.0, 24.0 and currently based on 31.0 Release with 31.4.0 ESR being the current security/stability update. The next Release the ESR will be based on Firefox 38.0 Release.

You would have to manually edit a config file to change the channel from esr to release in order for a esr version to give you a update to current Release at time. This why I think you are or were using the Firefox 24.0 Release.

I was on ESR, it specifically said ESR, I pressed check for updates and got switched to the release channel. I looked throug the FTP and couldn't find any newer ESRs. I figured ESR wasn't being done any more, and switched back down to keep away from the constant terrible UI updates. The design of the website is void of info about ESR and it was only today I discovered ESR still actually exists.
I always load the next complete installer to upgrade. It is less hassle that way. You can find the latest ESR version here:
If you want a previous ESR version, you can find those here, with "esr" after the version number.
