Before using Firefox version 36.0.1, I saved some passwords in it & then I updated my Firefox to 36.0.1 & to my surprise, I saw that all my passwords are gone. I have updated my Firefox few times but, it never happened. So, tell me how to recover those lost passwords.

Do you recall using the Refresh feature during your upgrade? This can happen if you see a button saying Firefox is performing poorly and you can refresh your settings to speed it up. After a Refresh, there is an Old Firefox Data folder on your desktop. Can you find one of those?

If so, we can describe how to copy a few files from that folder to your current settings folder to hopefully resolve this issue.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
