On the Firefox default theme, rearranging tabs has a sliding animation for the tabs behind it. However, there is no animation for the selected tab that was dragged, it just snaps to place. I would like to know where this animation is stored so I can try and fix it to have animation throughout all parts.

I'm still running Firefox 47 so I'm not sure I can see the distinction... When I release the mouse, the tab I'm moving does "animate" but more quickly than the background tabs. Perhaps there is a different rate parameter??

Regarding identifying the source code behind this, I'm not sure of the best approach. One method that sometimes works for me is to search in Bugzilla (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/query.cgi) for a bug that added the feature, and then look at the source code attachments. If you are looking for a relatively unique term (so, not "tab" or "animate") then you might also have luck searching DXR (https://dxr.mozilla.org/).

I just downloaded Firefox 47 and it doesn't have any animation for me. Does your animation look like this one: https://www.dropbox.com/s/21xcduh7nm9906g/2016-07-10_16-16-58.mp4?dl=0 (sorry for the bad quality, I have a old computer). If not, is there some kind of about:config option I can change to make the animation work as it should?
