My entire system with addons going back many years was lost with one click of the refresh button where is the one click to restore it all on roll back?
No script kept telling me over and over about a tracker attempt, so I looked up how to fix it, apparently it is cause by some hidden finger printing protocol. Some damn silly web site insisted the only fix was 'help' 'troubleshooting' then repair' There was no repair button on the mozilla troubleshooting page so I clicked 'refresh' foolishly imagining that would be milder. I have lost everything: no script, ad blocker privacy badger, and worst of all 'scrapbook' which has entries going back to about the first edition of firefox. I have been updating firefox regularly but now I see that scrapbook isn't compatible with mozilla. Apparently it has been years since a fresh install was scrapbook compatible. I need access to those pages. I have no idea what you mob get up to but accessibility and ease of use appears to be a very low priority. I just want to go back to how it was without some long drawn out drama that probably won't work.

You should have a new folder with Old data on your desktop.
I do have such a folder and I have tried dropping into the new profile which is no lo.nger called a profile (can't be consistent that would make it too easy eh). Some of my extensions work many do not especially not ScrapBook which was working fine up until a coupla hours ago. Now some jerk has deemed a perfectly useful app as a 'legacy extension' Not only will it not start Mozilla won't start if I just drop the previous profile in in toto. I hafta sort of mixnmatch which doesn't allow scrapbook or some others to work and I cannot make the bookmarks toolbar which I also really need, work. I can see all the links but they don't drag n drop contrary to the claims on the tin.
Why do this nonsense? What is the purpose of Mozilla going out of its way to be useless?
Hello click on the folder called Old Firefox Data then copy the data from there with a right click. Now open Firefox and navigate to about:profiles in your url bar. Then under the local directory press Open Folder. Now paste that copied data into this new profile folder and restart Firefox.
I did exactly as you asked tried twice and no change. During the paste step a few maybe 3 of the scrapbook folder were rejected because the path was too long but nothing else changed either especially not the config which still doesn't display bookmarks and needless to say scrapbook plus a few other extensions still doesn't work.
How about treating it as it is : Please use more than 1 scanner as each uses diff tech : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware Save your Report and google each before deleting anything as do not want to delete something you need, If need help : https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/9573-im-infected-what-do-i-do-now/ Post in only 1 forum, then wait.

It took me years to develop firefox to the point where it suited my workflow I have no intention of spending years more redeveloping the gui knowing all the while it can be negated by some arrogant mozilla engineer. How about you tell me how to get back to a mozilla of 2 updates ago? I do not use incompatible scanners they worked fine doing exactly as I wanted until mozilla for some reason negated them. One blocks adds, another stops insidious tracking cookies and the last one prevents low lifes from running dodgy scripts on my browser. If you are saying mozilla no longer supports EFF's efforts to protect users' privacy perhaps Mozilla needs to release a statement saying so; allowing consumers the right to choose whether that suits them. EFF will also be interested.
Going back : unfortunately 56.0.2 and below is no longer safe to use for every day use do to secuity issues, but 52.5.0 ESR is. It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.
You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

There are versions of Privacy Badger and NoScript for Firefox 57. Note: NoScript has a completely different menu and some people complain that its XSS warnings are too intrusive now.
Scrapbook is another matter. There does not appear to be a mature replacement version for Firefox 57. If your daily use of Scrapbook is essential, you can either:
- Reinstall Firefox 56 (Install an older version of Firefox)
- Switch to the Extended Support Release of Firefox 52, which is receiving security updates through next Spring
The ESR release was originally designed for large organizations that require long periods without feature changes, but individuals are free to use it. More info: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organ.../faq/. Some add-ons may be need to replaced with older versions if they use features not found in Firefox 52.
Whatever you do, please retain your Old Firefox Data folder as a backup in case you need to selectively restore files from it.
