For no reason I can see on Firefox on the upper right corner the bookmark tab disappeared, and on the upper left corner, the most frequent visited websites tab disappeared. There is just nothing there. I can still go to the bottom of the page to navigate but this is most cumbersom and loses all the advantages of one click I had. My computer is an intel windows Vista.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.

  • Firefox menu button > Options
  • View > Toolbars (press F10 to display the menu bar)
  • right-click empty toolbar area
  • if missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window (View > Toolbars > Customize) on the toolbar
  • if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).

If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear. Click the Maximize button (top right corner of the Navigation Toolbar) to leave full screen mode or right-click empty space on a toolbar and choose "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press the F11 key.

Thank you. This was the solution. Pressing the F11 brought it back. It seems it must have somehow slipped into full screen mode and the tabs were off screen (although I hovered my mouse at the edge and still couldn't find them). But F11 took me off full screen mode and got me back to my original homepage settings.
