where can I download Firefox 42?
I would like to download Firefox 42 from mozilla.com Firefox 44.x has moved the bookmarks bar to the side and I hate it.

Hi BestFashion, unless one of your add-ons is moving it, the locations of these two bars are identical in Firefox 42 and Firefox 44:
- Bookmarks Toolbar - below the address bar
- Bookmarks Sidebar - to the left side of the page

Can you attach a screenshot?
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/how-do-i-create-screenshot-my-problem
- Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
- Make sure that you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB
Do you mean that you have the bookmarks sidebar open?
Can't you close the sidebar via the Ctrl+B keyboard shortcut or via the close X?
Try to rename (or delete) the xulstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
To turn the Bookmarks Toolbar on, you can use one of these methods to show the toolbar list and select it there:
- right-click a blank spot on the tab bar (or the "+" button)
- tap the Alt key to activate the classic menu bar > View > Toolbars
- in Customize mode > Show/Hide Toolbars (see: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars)
To turn on the Bookmarks Toolbar, Menu Bar, or other bars, click it on the list.
Does that restore the missing bookmarks?
I don't want to turn the toolbar on in 44.
I don't want to turn the toolbar off in 44.
I don't like the default location of the toolbar in 44.
I like the location it had in 42.
I have to roll back to 42 to get the old location back, the one that it has in Chrome.
Does anyone know a safe place to get Firefox 42?
Thanks, everyone!!!
Your screenshot seems to be showing the Bookmarks Toolbar and that toolbar has always been there in that location. I'm not sure how you want the bookmarks to appear.
Are you using an extension (CTR?) to customize the appearance because I see the reload button to the left of the location/address bar?

So, it looks like 43.x was the problem. In 43, they moved the toolbar to the side from the top. There was not an option to move it back to the top. Apparently no one liked it and they moved it back where it was. I wasn't running any weird plugins in 43, the toolbar just changed position when I updated my version. Updating to 44 fixed the issue. Thanks everyone for being so helpful and prompt in responding to my question!! You are all great. Wonderful community.
