Bookmarks are not importing to Chrome or Opera.

Today I deleted and reinstalled all the web browsers on my computer. I also deleted the user profile and folders associated to each web browser as well. As usual, I only kept my Firefox profile. Also as usual I expected my other web browsers to be able to successfully import my Firefox bookmarks. For the first time ever No bookmarks from Firefox imported to Chrome or Opera. This has never happened before. I UNDERSTAND VERY WELL that this is a FIREFOX SUPPORT WEBSITE, but my Firefox bookmarks have always imported successfully to Chrome and Opera. Now all of a sudden 2 other web browsers are having difficulty displaying imported bookmarks from Firefox even after both saying import was "successful" as they usually do. Is it possible that my bookmarks file/folder is damaged?

Quick mention: I also performed a successful "Restore Firefox" before deleting all web browsers and as usual everything was normal in the profile including all my bookmarks still being there when starting Firefox again. So I don't understand why this is happening. I have done these things many times before exactly the same without any issues.

Could really use help on this one.

bookmarks.html files that are Exported from Firefox can be opened and viewed in any web browser; just a simpler version of a "web page". View that file and see if your bookmarks are there.

I don't know how the import function within either Chrome or Opera works when getting bookmarks from Firefox, but AFAIK importing via a bookmarks.html file that was Exported from Firefox should work.

Didn't work either. And the bookmarks.html file process was a bit complicated for what most people will put up with.

For the first time ever No bookmarks from Firefox imported to Chrome or Opera.

What method did you use for this -- is it a built-in feature of these browsers that doesn't require you to export from Firefox first? In other words, they go directly to your Firefox profile folder and read the places.sqlite file?

It's odd the other browsers claim to have successfully imported bookmarks, and yet zero Firefox bookmarks can be found in the other browsers. It makes me wonder whether they found some other file to import rather than your live profile.

I also performed a successful "Restore Firefox" before deleting all web browsers and as usual everything was normal in the profile including all my bookmarks still being there when starting Firefox again.

What is that procedure? I assume you don't mean "Refresh." Is it some backup software that you use?

I used the normal import feature of Google Chrome and Opera. Plenty of people are also having issues regarding this over at the Chrome support forum. Here are 3 forum links Cannot Import Bookmarks from Firefox Is there a fix that will let me import bookmarks and settings from Firefox? Re-import Firefox bookmarks I used the built in "Refresh Firefox" feature found by going to the troubleshooting page about:support. It keeps the bookmarks, history, passwords and other things and restores the settings and removes addons. I did not use back up software

Okay, yes, apparently Chrome used to directly import bookmarks and now it can't for some reason.

Possibly this was caused by a change in Firefox 48 (released 8/2/2016) that none of us noticed, having no reason to start up a fresh Chrome. Or maybe Google broke it themselves.

I think they have every incentive to get this patched up ASAP. Until then, you know the other method. (Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks)
