Until recently(approx. 3 weeks ago. It's 01/31/18 today) a problem started when I try to stream Netflix videos in Firefox. This only happens on Netflix. There's no issue streaming videos from any other site I visit. I'm able to stream Netflix videos in Chrome and in Edge. I followed all the steps shown here: https://help.netflix.com/support/32661 to no avail.

Situation resolved. I found that since 58 was installed the 'always use private browsing' box was checked. I unchecked it and Netflix videos are streaming again.

Hello,

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. (Firefox 57 and above) Click the Library button 57 library icon and choose History.
(Click the menu button New Fx Menu and choose History in older Firefox versions.)
  2. In the History menu, choose "Clear Recent History...".
  3. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  4. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  5. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  6. Now click the "Clear Now" button.

Further information can be found in the Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Thank you for your reply. I habitually clear history, cache, cookies at the end of every browsing session. It has no effect on the problem.

I think it may have to do with DRM. When I go to Netflix, the show preview videos, that run automatically at login, for their new shows play ok. Those videos probably aren't DRM. Widevine CDM was last updated Jan. 22/18. I've deactivated & reactivated it. No change. I haven't found a method to remove it then reinstall it. I don't know if that would fix the problem.

Same issue with 59.0.2. Did a Refresh, and updated WideVine DRM plugin per [https://help.netflix.com/en/node/32661], and still get a "please wait" circle.

Fortunately Netflix is working fantastic in Edge.

Try to toggle DRM off/on to see if that makes Firefox (re)load DRM components.
