I have the same issue as https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1175953. I have 5 accounts on my Thunderbird. 4 work perfectly. The fifth keeps asking for a new password. I have followed all the help steps. I can access my Gmail account directly with no problems. I tried changing my Gmail password I have set Gmail to accept less secure access I deleted my Thunderbird password and entered the correct one when prompted but I still receive the new password request. I have checked all the setting of the faulty account against the ones that work and can see no difference.

Make sure the username in receive and smtp server settings is using your full gmail email address.

When prompted for password, make sure you select the checkbox for password manager to remember the password.

check all is stored here: 'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'Security' > 'Passwords' tab click on 'Saved Passwords' button click on 'Show Passwords' button Check username is correct check password is correct

If all is ok. Click on 'Close' click on OK

Restart Thunderbird and see if the data in this section has changed.

Also try using the gmail captcha to force an acccess. https://accounts.google.com/DisplayUnlockCaptcha

All the above are spot on. Google shows that my device has access. When Thunderbird starts the request is for the correct email address I enter the correct password but I can't access Gmail via Thunderbird. Need to go direct?
