I'd like to be able to prepare an e-mail and send it later (at a precise date). Thank you for your reply.

Install the add on Send Later. It does this.

Thank you for your reply but I don't know how to install the add on Send Later. If I do a left clic on "send", I have a menu with "send later". If I click on that, it places the e-mail I don't know where (impossible to find it again) but it doesn't ask me at what date I want to send the e-mail. When I open my e-mail box, it aks me if I want to send the e-mail stocked but I only want to send it on 13th March. On another e-mail programme that I had before, I could choose the date of sending. Thank you for your help.

The stock Send Later button in Thunderbird places the message in the Outbox where you manually chose to send the message later. No scheduling possibilities. From the Thunderbird menu go to the Add ons tab, click Extensions and enter send later in the search box. Install the add on to have the ability to schedule.

I managed to do what you advised me (not quite easily because I'm aging and not very good at computer science !). Anyway, it works. I now have a window that opens up and I can choose the date of sending. But once, I'm in that window, there is no button to confirm. I juste have to close that window ? And then, once on the e-mail again, I just jave to close it and it goes into the draft box. Is that it ? Will the email be sent on the date chosen ? Anyway, I've made a test. I've sent an email to myself for tomorrow morning. I'll see what happens. Another silly question : the computer probably needs to be lit to send the email. But if I do this, it's because I won't be at home on the D date ! Anyway, thanks ever so much for your help. Anne Marie

I have never used the add on so I cannot help with user guide. The add on author usually has instructions where you got the app and it is up to them to support it and answer questions.

Yes the computer has to be turned on for Thunderbird to work.

Oh sorry, I think I found out the answer to my question. We need to press the rectangle in which the date and time chosen are written again (it becomes blue). And then the e-mail goes into the draft box. Great ! But I still have my silly question : the computer probably needs to be switched on to be able to send the e-mail on the D-date ?! Thank you very much Indeed.
