Thunderbird started applying a fixed line length to my emails - how to turn this off?

I am using Thunderbird 60.7.0 on Windows 10.
When I send an email from Thunderbird, Thunderbird applies a fixed line length, adding a "return" in the middle of sentences. This started happening sometime after May 15th, and I don't know how or why this option got turned on.
Messages that I sent from Thunderbird after May 15th, have a "return" in the middle of nearly every sentence. This is visible when I view the sent message in my phone's email client (and then copy and paste the message into a text editor that shows the line number on the left). This is also visible when I view the sent message in the desktop browser version of Gmail (and then copy and paste the message into a text editor on Windows). However, the interesting thing is, when I view the same messages in Thunderbird (and then copy and paste them into a text editor), they have *no* returns in the middle of sentences.
So it appears that these messages will appear fragmented for only some users?
I do not know how or why this fixed-length option got turned on, and I would like to turn it off, so that my emails do not appear fragmented for any recipients. Could someone help me in finding how to turn this setting off?

Update: Today, I sent several test emails from this account using Thunderbird. These emails, which I sent today, do NOT have a fixed line length applied and do NOT have a return in the middle of sentences.
I have no idea how or why the 3 emails I sent from Thunderbird on May 23 and May 24 have a fixed line length and have returns in the middle of sentences. But they do. Is this a bug? Why would this happen in Thunderbird? These emails were sent from my Gmail account, USING Thunderbird. See above post.
Thunderbird will, and always has, converted a HTML email to plain text if it can. That is the email body contain nothing explicitly in the way of HTML.
One way to force this is the have a font other than the default specified in your setting for composition. Another is to "force" the sending of HTML mail in all instances or sending both. Also in options
Options > Composition General and Options > Composition General > send options
