www. web address entered takes me to a website which has not been updated instead of the updated website. Entering the same www. in Edge takes me to the updated website. Specifically, www.camphillpres.org takes me to the old website where the word "More" is on the right side of the banner. The updated site has on the right the 2 words "Preschool" and "Donate".

Possibly Firefox is showing a page from the cache instead of from the live site. Caching saves on bandwidth, but sometimes this happens.

See: How to clear the Firefox cache

Note: Just clear "Cached web content" and NOT the cookies/site data.

Note: If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

Any improvement the next time you visit the site?

Followed the "Clear the cache" instructions and the Tip for another way clicking "History" "Clear Recent History" - Still ge the old website.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox for a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox for this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data for that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data for that website will be saved once again.

"Forget" didn't solve problem. Also deleted each entry individually in the "History" drop down.

You can reload webpage(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

You can check the connection settings.

  • Settings -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":

Browsing history -- a record of having visited a URL -- doesn't affect whether current page content loads. Page content could be affected by (A) cached files, (B) previously set cookies that trigger the site to provide different page content, or (C) cached DNS entries that point to a different server. Private mode should bypass those items set in regular windows.

But speaking of DNS, has the site moved to a different IP address recently? Firefox has two options for DNS lookups, plus the option to use a proxy server. You can try switching your DNS setting by enabling or disabling DNS over HTTPS. You also can disable any proxy server. This article will get you into the Network Settings part of the Settings page: Firefox DNS over HTTPS.

You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
