I have been using Firefox for ages and don't understand what happened. No search works any more. No search on the address bar or on the search field (on its right). No search plugin working. If I call a search engine home page, like typing google.com on the address field, the Google engine appears, but when I try to search it stands still without any reaction. The same with any other search engine. Search works normally on IE.

Hi Straydog,

I'd try starting Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide and the Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems article as well.

Hopefully this helps!

Thank you for the answers. Deleting the file search.sqlite as on cor-el's first link solved the issue. When I restarted Firefox it was OK. Before the answers I had already deleted all search engines from the searchplugins profile folder and replaced them without success (I have a saved backup of the search engines).

Before posting I looked up help. It would have been better, but couldn't find the link that worked provided here, sorry.

Thanks again.
