How to disable switching to firefox on notification

more options

I enabled switch to tab for google calendar but now I can't get it to stop. I found this https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1272327 and opened the pad lock and removed the switch to tab permission. But it is still doing it. I also tried going into the site settings and permissions and there the "Switch to this tab" is set to the default of Always Ask. I even tried blocking all notifications on the site but it's still switching to it and it gets really annoying.

Maybe log into your google account and disable calender notification there.

Okay, I see where you enable this permission for the "Alerts" style of notifications:

After that box is checked, the Page Info dialog (Ctrl+i) should show the change and allow changing back:

Does that dialog show "Always ask" for you now (after revoking the permission)?

Note: in Firefox, "Notification" permission refers to "Desktop notifications" that pop up outside of the tab (depending on your OS, they may go to the OS).

I already tried that: I also tried going into the site settings and permissions and there the "Switch to this tab" is set to the default of Always Ask.

When I enable it, it's like the first two images. When I click on the X on the permission, it disappears and then in the page info it is not allowed - the third image.

But it is still doing it. :(

Let me clarify, my problem isn't switching to the calendar tab within firefox window, my problem is switching to the firefox window itself which contains the tab. I am focused in some other window doing work but then when the google calendar "notification" comes, the firefox window gets focused and that is what is annoying me.

Oh. I didn't test that, I was staying in Firefox, either in the same window or a different window. Let me see...

What happens for me is that the Firefox button on the Windows Taskbar pulses orange, but Outlook stays in front. Is this a setting I customized? Let me test in another profile...

No, it didn't switch there either.

I don't know whether there is a Firefox preference for this, or whether it's a Windows/Linux difference (on Windows, Firefox doesn't send alerts to the Windows notification handler), or maybe it's a system setting.
