I've had Firefox as my main browser for years. I have always been able to click the 'Open a new tab' plus sign at the right of any open tab and get a new tab. I've also always been able to go to File and select 'New Tab' and gotten one. All of a sudden today, without any updates or anything, I am unable to get a New Tab by any means. It is very frustrating as I do my work in Firefox and need the ability to have multiple tabs in one window instead of having to switch between 7 different windows. Please help.

Ask Toolbar appears in your UserAgent string.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.17) Gecko/20110121 AskTbIMB/3.11.3.15590 Firefox/3.5.17 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)

Right click anywhere on a toolbar. Select Customize... In the dialog box that appears, drag the button that says "New tab" to the tab bar. Check out the screenshot below...

I have this problem and have tried both of the above remedies yet am still unable to open a new tab! The only way I am getting round it at the moment is to hit "help", go on to "firefox help" and just use that tab. It is really annoying. I've had this for three days now. Thinking of getting rid of Firefox completely. :(
